they spun a web for me.
Some days we gotta stop and smell the flowers; today, is that day. Woke up early cos I needed to go to the bank with mom, afterwhich we went for lunch at the market. Mom also made a stopover at Singapore Pools and I was made to shade the Toto sheet cos apparently I have luck since my birthday is coming up =/. I know, Mom is highly superstitious lah. And then since she had to go down to the office, I was made to take a BUS back. The horrors! I haven't actually taken the bus for more than 3 stops since years ago. I also haven't been on the upper deck of a double-decker bus for even longer. In much anticipation, seeing the bus pullover at the stop, I made sure I ascended the bus steps calmly. My adventure was about to begin! The whole bus ride was quite a challenge - first, I had to sweat it out whilst waiting. And then, I had to endure the loud-talking high school kids on the bus. The bumpy, slow "time-to-change-gear" ride was also a source of discomfort, as was looking at how old the bus was and how dirty the handles were. I prepped myself to ignore these, as I wasn't about to be some "I'm-too-good-for-this" bitch criticizing everything and anything. Slowly, as the bus passed the area I grew up in, memories came flooding back. Indeed, some things never change; some buildings remain in their place though it makes you wonder, For how long? How long more til the government decides to buy over that piece of land and turn it into some new, upmarket shopping area or expensive residential apartments? What happened to appreciating beauty in its purest, oldest form? As the bus made a turn at the junction, I felt sad, realising that Time waits for no man, as I was going to turn 21 in 2 weeks. Here I was, on my $1.05 bus ride, age 21, looking down upon the place I spent my time in when I was 7. And people ask me, why do you love taking photos so much? I normally used to say, "cos i like taking pictures?". Today I realised the real reason - so there will always be a bridge to the past. How many times have you tried to remember something but can't put your finger to it? Memory is falliable, and I don't want to forget. Next time I ask for a picture with you, please give me the smile I'll always remember you by.
